Wilfred H. Roehe, a resident of Dutchess County since 1964, passed away at the age of 91 on March 5, 2026.

Born in Bremen, Germany, in November 1934, Wilfred became a cabinetmaker before immigrating to Canada. He came to the United States in 1964, made Dutchess County his home, and later became a proud naturalized citizen. After settling in the United States, Wilfred founded his own construction company, which he owned and operated successfully until his retirement.

Wilfred was the son of the late Frieda and Karl Roehe. He was predeceased by his brother, Karl Heinz, and his stepdaughter, Kim. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia A. Roehe (nee Neuner); his stepdaughter, Kara, and her husband, Chris; and his step-grandchildren, Casandra, Meagan, and Jordan.

Wilfred lived a life defined by service, leadership, and devotion to his community. He had been a member of Lions Club International since 1967 and was a life member of the Amenia, New York Lions Club. His dedication to Lionism was extraordinary. He served twice as District Governor of the Lions Club, first from 1983 to 1984 and again from 2013 to 2014. He was also instrumental in raising more than $1 million to help fund the Lions Eye Institute in Albany, New York. In recognition of his leadership and commitment, he served as President of the Eye Institute from 2008 to 2009 and was named Chairman of the Board Emeritus on July 17, 2001.

In addition to his work with the Lions, Wilfred was a life member of the Roachdale Fire Company in Poughkeepsie, a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks, and a proud Mason. He also served several times as president of the local Shriners Club, reflecting his lifelong commitment to fellowship, charity, and service to others.

Wilfred will be remembered for his generosity, leadership, and unwavering dedication to helping others. Through his years of service, compassion, and charitable work, he touched countless lives, including the lives of many people who will never know his name. His legacy of kindness, service, and quiet impact on the world will not be forgotten.

There will be no calling hours. A private family celebration of Wilfred's life will be held.
