Viola Louise Cummings of Millbrook, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 due to complications after a battle with cancer.  Born on June 27, 1945 in Millbrook, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Edmonds) Cummings.  Viola loved her hometown.  Her long time friends and family lived there, including the BeCoates and Sepe families. She was a professionally trained legal secretary for over 35 years.  For the past 23 years, she had been employed by New York State in the Dutchess County Family Court system as confidential secretary to the Hon. Peter M. Forman and the Hon. Denise M. Watson.  Viola was well respected and much loved by the legal community and her courthouse family.  She is survived by her two sisters, Irene Shultz and Katherine Cummings, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Viola was predeceased by her sisters Teresa Hancock and Mary Johnson and her brothers Charles, Dick, Richard, Robert, Christopher, William and John Cummings, Oscar Edmonds and Arthur Edmonds.  Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2021 from 10am to 12 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Avenue, Millbrook, NY. Burial will follow in Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook, NY.  Much thanks goes to the hospital staff and nurses at Vassar Brothers Medical Center who stayed with Viola and comforted her during her final hours.
