Thomas A. Hanaburgh, 76, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away Monday December 10th, 2018 at home, with his wife at his side. Thomas fought the last two years with (AML) Leukemia.
Born March 19, 1942 to Edward C. and Alva Hanaburgh of Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Hanaburgh graduated from Arlington High School, class of 1961 and worked for the Town of Poughkeepsie as a Senior Treatment Plant Operator for 35 years, and when he retired he worked 4 more years with the Camo Pollution Control.
Tom was an avid golfer and bowler and a longtime fan of NASCAR #24 Jeff Gordon. He was active with Boy Scouts Troop #33 in Pleasant Valley, as well as coaching little league baseball in the 1980's.
Tom enjoyed making homebrew that won many blue ribbons at the Dutchess County Fair and cheered on his favorite football team the "New York Giants".
Mr. Hanaburgh is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary. They were married on April 4th, 1964 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. Tom and Mary renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas with "Elvis" performing the ceremony.
Tom is also survived by his daughter, Mary Gunn, of Poughkeepsie, NY and his son, Thomas E. Hanaburgh, of Marlboro, NJ and his son-in-law, Gregory and daughter-in-law, Janet. Tom leaves behind his love of his life, 4 grandchildren, Summer Gunn, Brian, Talia and Eliana Hanaburgh, sister, Evelyn Browne of Saratoga, NY. He is also survived by his sisters and brother in laws, Robert and Anna De France and Carol Decker. Nieces and nephews, Robert and Dawn De France, Debbie Decker, Christy and Dave Schroeder, Rhondy and Guy McAllister, Kathy and Peter Soloway and Craig and Sarah Browne. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward.
A memorial service for Mr. Hanaburgh, will be held on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 from 3 to 6 pm at the Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
Cremation has taken place, as requested by Tom.
