Obituary

Shirley R. Walker, 88, of Poughkeepsie passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Born on June 27, 1927 in Poughkeepsie she was the daughter of the late Albert and Estelle (Butler) Conrad. She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie. She married the late Edgar Walker. They spent over 40 years together raising their family in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Walker predeceased her in May of 1983. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Club 60 senior center, town of Poughkeepsie seniors and the Pleasant Valley senior centers. She had many fun times square dancing with the Boots and Bows in Poughkeepsie. She also enjoyed reading and doing crafts. She especially loved spending time with her family. Shirley is survived by her children, Stephen Walker and his significant other Darcee Vorndran, Jeff and his wife Diane Walker and Kathy Ann and her husband John Harmuth, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and sister, Doris Lasko. She was predeceased by her companion Tom Hogan and brother, Albert Conrad. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 9 to 10 am at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will immediately follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
