Shirley Teal, 95, a longtime resident of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Ellis Center in Schenectady, NY.
Born in Poughkeepsie on May 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Louise Farrier Lane. On April 28, 1945 at St. Andrews's Church, Poughkeepsie, Shirley married Donald W. Teal. Mr. Teal predeceased her on October 22, 2006.?Mrs. Teal served as the Secretary/ Bookkeeper of Homer Teal & Sons, Inc., Pleasant Valley for many years until she and her husband Don, who served as President of the company, retired together in 1992. ?Shirley was a member of Pleasant Valley American Legion Auxiliary and Pleasant Valley Order of the Eastern Star.
Shirley is survived by her 2 grandchildren, Steven Roberts and his wife Stacy of Bolton Landing, NY and Kristen Mahieu of Schenectady, NY; and her great grandson, Blake Mahieu of Schenectady, NY. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 2 children, Donald E. Teal in 1966 and Kathleen Brunet in 1994, and her sister Eunice Voerman.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 7th from 12:00pm – 1:30 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 1:30 pm with Rev. Tom Hartley presiding. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Pleasant Valley.
