Shirley Bowman Benham, 87, died on April 22, 2016 at home, following a long illness. Born in Clinton Corners on June 8, 1928 to Cornelius and Elsie Griffin Bowman. She was the 7th and last child in the family. All have predeceased her. She was widowed from her husband of 66 years, Stanley H. Benham, Jr., on April 2, 2016. Both died 27 days before their 88th birthday.

She grew up in Millbrook and graduated from Millbrook High School. She has been a homemaker her entire married life. She has lived in Millbrook since retirement in 1987. Leisure time was spent golfing, fishing and bowling. She was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club, the Millbrook Historical Society and a member of the Lyall Memorial Federated Church where she was very active in the Millbrook Meals on Wheels program for several years.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Thomas and Beatrice of Kingston, NY, William and Lynda of East Quogue, NY and Stephen and Margaret of Sidney, NY. Other survivors are granddaughters Jill Benham and Renee and husband Barry Hart; grandsons Michael and his wife Melanie, Bradley, Matthew and Garrett Benham; and great granddaughters, Clarissa and Page Hart. Also, two nephews, John Kelly of Troy, NY and Ralph Bowman of Erie, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Meals on Wheels in care of Lyall Memorial Federated Church Maple Avenue, Millbrook, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 11 AM at the Lyall Memorial Federated Church, Maple Avenue, Millbrook, NY.
