Samuel D. North, 46, born on July 10, 1978, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2024, at home. He was born in Edison, New Jersy and resided in Poughkeepsie, New York.
He was a volunteer at Rochdale Fire Company for over 30 years during which time he served as the current President, and past Captain, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, he also became Assistant Chief and served 1 year as commissioner for The Arlington Fire District. He worked at Vassar College in the Safety & Security Department for many years as a Sergeant and for the last 2 years he became a Custodial Supervisor in the Facilities Operations Department at Vassar College.
Sam loved his family most of all and enjoyed going to his family camp in New Hampshire where he enjoyed camping, fishing, 4 wheeling and the peacefulness of "God's Country".
He is survived by his wife Carolyn North, his son Samuel Tyler North, his sister Samantha Martin, his grandmother Rosemarie Sette, uncle and wife V. Stephen Sette and Lisa as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel & Loretta North and his grandfather, Vito Sette.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27 from 1 - 4 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. There will be a graveside service on Monday, October 28 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery at 11 am. Please meet just inside the cemetery gate at 10:45 am.
