We are saddened to announce the passing of Roberta Petrone on September 1, 2019. Roberta was a vibrant and loving woman known to always lend a helping hand. Her various careers included hairstylist and salon owner, GED instructor for incarcerated youth, after-school program coordinator, and residential manager for adults and youth with disabilities. She loved to dance, everything from ballroom to hip-hop, and performed at the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck with her daughter Risa. When not on stage, she was behind the scenes as a hair and makeup artist, as well as an instructor for their student camps. Roberta loved cooking for people, Starbucks coffee, the minions from Despicable Me, and playing with her dog Daphne.

Roberta is survived by her daughter Risa Petrone and her partner Randy Kiersnowski, husband Greg Petrone, roommate and partner Kevin Daley, parents Don and Loretta Hanhurst, brothers Eric, Bruce, Robert, and Craig, nieces and nephews Chris, Ashley, Ryan, Crystal, Tonya, Phillip, Charlie, and Penelope, and countless people who saw her as another mother, sister, aunt, or simply a great friend.

A celebration of Roberta's life will take place at the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck on Thursday September 5, 2019 from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Center in her honor. Checks can be made out to RPA Inc. and mailed to 661 NY-308, Rhinebeck NY 12572 or provided in person at the celebration.
