Robert V. (Bob)Niles of Poughkeepsie died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at age 84. Born on January 30, 1931 in Michigan City, Indiana, he moved to Poughkeepsie, New York at age 10. A graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, Robert started working as a photographer with the Poughkeepsie Journal in 1950. He married Doris Tompkins on April 11, 1953. He retired from the Poughkeepsie Journal in 1993 after 43 years. He received many awards over the span of his career including the Bernard Kolenberg Memorial Award for Excellence in Newspaper Photography. He is predeceased by his daughter Valerie Niles, his Sister Mae Burbas, and brother Henry Niles. He is survived by his wife Doris, his sister Emagene (Niles) Lyon, daughter Leslie (Niles) Jackson and husband Tom Jackson, daughter Kelly (Niles) Del Santo and husband Eric Del Santo. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Meghan Tooley, Katelyn Tooley, Brian Del Santo, Scott Cornell, and Carolyn Fisher, and one great granddaughter Isabelle. Calling hours will be Sunday, October 25, 2015, 2 pm to 6 pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. The Funeral will be Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11am at Zion Episcopal Church, 22 Satterlee Place, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 with internment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York.
