Robert H. Meyen, 86, of Salt Point, New York, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on July 23, 1939, in Long Beach, New York, Robert was the son of the late Seigfried and Lillian (Sloat) Meyen. He graduated from Amenia High School, earned his Associate's Degree from Dutchess Community College, and devoted 35 years of his professional life to a successful career as an engineer with IBM. After retiring, Robert fully embraced his lifelong passion for the outdoors. For more than 20 years, he shared his love of fly fishing as an instructor at Orvis Sandanona in Millbrook, New York. An avid hunter, fisherman, and fly tier, Robert found his greatest joy not only in nature itself, but in teaching others and passing along his knowledge, skills, and deep respect for the environment. Robert was a proud member and former treasurer of Mid-Hudson Trout Unlimited, where his commitment to conservation and community made a lasting impact and forged many meaningful friendships.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Enas (Bialousz) Meyen; his sons, Robert Meyen (Linda) and Stephen Meyen (Susan); his grandchildren, Jessica Meyen and Rachael Lewin (Benjamin); his great-granddaughter, Emma Rose Lewin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean Bartlett, and his grandson, Matthew Freiman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23rd, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Avenue, Millbrook, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 15 North Avenue, Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Millbrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to Mid-Hudson Trout Unlimited, P.O. Box 982, Poughkeepsie, NY 12602.
