Obituary

Regina Dorothy Fitzpatrick, 98, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2018 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was born on September 22, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Henry and Mae Nelson Fannon.

Regina received her BA in English at Hunter College in New York, NY and was subsequently employed by the National Broadcasting Company as an Executive Assistant. She later received her MA Degree in Education from SUNY New Paltz. For 22 years she was an English Teacher at the Arlington Junior High School.

Following her retirement, Regina pursued a career as a freelance writer, instructor and education consultant. In 1988, Regina published an autobiographical children's book "It Wasn't the Truth They Told". She was also a passionate traveler throughout the United States and Europe.

Regina is survived by her four children; Colleen Fogarty (husband James) of Newburgh, NY, Darby Cardonsky of Greenwich, CT, Patricia Fitzpatrick (Madeleine O'Brien, MD) of Katonah, NY and Paul Fitzpatrick, Jr. (fiancée Mimi Mamo) of Pleasant Valley; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Regina was predeceased by her husband, Paul, and her daughters, Valerie Mackay and Paulette Rainey.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, at 10 AM from St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lutheran Care Center and Hudson Valley Hospice for their devoted and compassionate care.
