Obituary

Raymond F. Powers, Jr., 85 years of age, from Millbrook, New York, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Born on January 12, 1940, in Rutland, Vermont, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Anna Isabel (Halpin) Powers, Sr.

On July 6, 1963, at Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, New York, he married the love of his life – Marion C. Miller who survives at home. They were just shy of celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary.

A graduate of Webutuck Central School, he also attended Dutchess Community College. He served in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman stationed in Europe. Ray was honorably discharged in August of 1962.

After his military service, he went on to an accomplished 40-year career with George T. Whalen, Inc. and Marshall & Sterling, Inc. in their Millbrook office.  He was a well-known and respected businessman in the community.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three loving daughters and their husbands: Patricia (Patti) and John Bennett of Fishkill, New York; Ann and Christopher (Chris) Mauriello of Swampscott, Massachusetts; and Ellen and William (Bill) BreMiller of Millbrook, New York. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren of whom he was very proud: Cory (Katie) Bennett; Shannon Bennett; Alyssa, Michael and Matthew Mauriello; Nicole (Mark) Kotzur; Maura (Ryan) Dalton; John Shanks, Jr.; one great granddaughter, Quinn Kotzur; one great grandson Carter Bennett and a third great grandchild expected in July.   He is also survived by a brother Michael (Nadine) Powers of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Thomas J. and Ann T. Powers.

There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 13, 2025 at 11am at St. Joseph's Church North Avenue, Millbrook, New York.  Burial will be private.

Memorial donations, in Ray's honor, may be made to the Millbrook Rescue Squad.
