Peter J. Houtman, 69, of Pleasant Valley, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He was born on March, 25, 1957 in Long Island, NY to the late Harold and Joan C. (Doyle) Houtman. He graduated from John Jay Senior High School in east Fishkill in 1975.

Peter married Cathy Shields, on September 8, 1990 at the Amenia Wassaic VFW. He worked at Taconic DDSO for over 25 years. He started in food service and then transferred to a developmental aide. He enjoyed working hard and worked many double shifts. When he wasn't working he volunteered with Regeneration (Lions Club Youth Group) and the Community Outreach Program.

Peter enjoyed taking scenic drives. He also enjoyed family get togethers especially Thanksgiving dinners.

Peter will be missed by many. Survivors are his wife, Cathy; brother, Andrew and his spouse, Debbie; sister-in-law Bonnie and her spouse, George, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Houtman and aunt, Patricia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 4 to 7pm with funeral services starting at 6:30pm from Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St. Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. Graveside services will be held                at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
