Nancy Ann Raymond went to heaven on May 10, 2025 following a fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Charleroi-Monessen hospital in southwest Pennsylvania on July 20, 1951 to parents Lionel Joseph and May Diethorn (Cain), attended Belle Vernon PA schools, graduating from Belle Vernon high school in 1969. Her first year of college was at Indiana University in Indiana PA, followed by three years at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington PA, graduating with a degree in microbiology in 1973.

She went to work at IBM in Poughkeepsie NY in May 1974 as a computer programmer, working there until the birth of her first child in March 1981. She then became one of the world's great mothers to her two daughters. During their school years she was president of their school PTO, president of the Millbrook Music Boosters, and house manager for the 97 Miles  Off Broadway drama club's productions. When they got older, she went back to work part time as the bookkeeper at Merritt Bookstore for 9 years, retiring in 2005.

Since then she has been deeply involved in St. Joseph Church's activities  beyond attendance at mass - many years as a CCD teacher, president of the Women's Guild including being the unofficial chief cook for the church hall (cooking the yearly breakfast for 35 members), cleaning and scheduling the volunteer cleaners of the church, and becoming a dedicated volunteer at Uncle Al's thrift shop.  She also handled the bookkeeping and sales tax submission for Uncle Al's.

When not in Millbrook or visiting family in Towson MD and Belle Vernon PA, she traveled extensively with her family in the US - up and down the east and west coasts, the Southwest, Midwest, and around the Great Lakes. Internationally she visited Ireland, Egypt, Caribbean islands, the Quebec and Maritime Canadian provinces, cruises down the Rhine and Danube rivers, and cruises around the Baltic and Mediterranean seas. The latter included visits to Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem in Israel, and the Sistine Chapel in Rome, as well as Crete, Cyprus, and 5 days in Greece.

At home she was a lover of books including culinary books, a great cook, a flower and vegetable gardener (leading to canning and freezing a year's worth of beans, peas, squash and tomatoes at every home harvest season). Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she decorated her house extensively. Presents for her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren were always carefully chosen.

A lover of animals and the birds at the bird feeder, she had two dogs and two cats over the years, as well as alpacas for 20 years. Nature shows on TV were among her favorites.

She is survived by Bruce, her husband of 49 years, sisters Susan Bronder of Woodstock NY and Marylou Todd of Port Orange FL, daughters Amanda Kalantirsky (Phillip) of Ridgefield CT and Becky Huth (Ken) of Yorktown NY, and grandchildren Marlowe, Collin and Alexandra.

There will a visitation on Thursday, May 15 from 4 – 6 PM at the Allen Funeral Home at 3270 Franklin Avenue in Millbrook NY. The funeral mass will be at St. Joseph - Immaculate Conception church in Millbrook NY at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to any charity dealing with children's health and education, or to St. Joseph - Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Millbrook NY. Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, unwavering dedication to her loved ones, and deep faith. She will be so deeply missed but forever loved.
