Mildred K. Murphy, 95, of Hopewell Junction, and formerly of Flushing Queens, passed away peacefully at her home on October 11, 2016. She was born in Manhattan on April 1, 1921 to the late Peter and Elvira (Gismano) Campbell.

Mildred will always be remembered for being a woman of great faith with a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother. She was a long time member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Kevin's Church in Flushing. She enjoyed doing The New York Times crossword puzzles, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing and listening to news on the radio. Her greatest joy in life was her children, second only to the love of her husband of 72 years, Eugene P. Murphy, who survives her.

She is also survived by her children, Kathleen and Gerald Leventhal, Virginia and Daniel Cassano, James and Patricia Murphy, Maureen and Paul Cacioppo, Eugene Murphy and Melinda Praetorius, Mary Ann and John Smaldone, Michael and Kathleen Murphy, Daniel and Debra Murphy and Patrick Murphy. She was blessed with twenty-seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Madsen, brother-in-law, Rev. Alfred Murphy, O.S.A, sister-in-law Alma Murphy and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was predeceased by her infant son, Kevin Murphy, one brother, William Campbell, brothers-in-law, Joseph Madsen and Kenneth Murphy, and sister-in-law, Catherine Campbell.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 10:00am, at St. Columba Church, in Hopewell Junction. Interment will be at 2:00pm at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. Everyone is asked to please meet at the main gate on Wellwood Avenue prior to 1:50pm.

The family would like to thank Mary and all the nurses and aides who always cared for Mildred with such compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
