Mary A. Shea passed away peacefully January 2, 2022 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY at the age of 103. Mary was born September 19, 1918 in Middle Hope, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Maximillian & Sarah Selig. She worked for Central Hudson Gas & Electric and retired after 33 years of employment.  She absolutely loved her job.
Mary was always full of stories from her life accomplishments and would tell them to anyone who would listen.  She was a caring and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, Aunt and friend.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world.  She loved to go on bus-tour trips and getting in the car and just taking a random trip through the Hudson Valley discovering the beauty of a different destination each time.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Shea is survived by her son, Robert J. Shea; her grandchildren, John R. Shea III, Timothy E. Shea Jr., Kimberlyjo Ann, Kathy and Colleen, 14 Great-Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Shea was predeceased by her husband, John R. Shea Sr.; her brothers, Joseph A. Selig, Martin P. Selig, Francis M. Selig; her sisters, Maxine, Anna and Barbara; and her sons, John R. Shea, Jr. and Timothy E. Shea Sr.; her grand-daughter Tracey Ann.
Calling hours will be 11 am-1 pm, Thursday, January 13, at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker  Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie.  Funeral services will follow calling hours at the funeral home and burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park, 1076 Violet Ave. (Rt 9-G).
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Toys-For-Tots or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
