Mary Marchese, 97, of Pleasant Valley died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Renaissance Rehabilitation with her son and grandson by her side.

She is the daughter of Rosaria and Pellegrino Serino.  She was raised in Poughkeepsie with her 4 brothers and sisters.  She attended school until elementary school when the family's farm was in need of help.  She met her husband at an early age when he came up from Brooklyn for a visit to the countryside at her family's farm.

Mary found most enjoyment in caring for her family.  She spent her time cooking for the ones she loved and cared for her 2 children, 3 grandchildren and eventually 11 great grandchildren.  Mary loved teaching her great grandchildren how to crochet and cook.  She always made a house a home, with her warm and welcoming personality.
A beloved daughter, sister, cousin, wife, aunt, mother and Nonna.  She is survived by her sons Victor and Richard; her granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Matt Deutscher; her granddaughter and her husband Melissa and David Karchmer; and her grandson and his wife Stephen and Heather Marchese.  Mary will always be a cherished 'Nonna" to her 11 great-grandchildren Damantha, Nicholas, Nadine, Sarah, McKayla, Ava, Rocco, Madison, Landon, Hudson and Brooklyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 28, 2016 at 10am at St. Stanislaus Church, Pleasant Valley.  Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
