Marietta Lena Fairchild, 78, a longtime resident of Millbrook, died on February 13, 2021 at The Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. Born in Manhattan, NY on May 19, 1942, Marietta was the daughter of the late Ralph and Gilda Russo.
Marietta is predeceased by her husband, Richard D. Fairchild, whom she married on September 23, 1962 at St. Joseph's Church in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY. They were happily married for 52 years. Marietta was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.
Marietta resided on Long Island prior to relocating to Millbrook in 1971.  She was employed by Taconic DDSO for 35 years. She worked her way up from an entry-level secretarial position and retired in 2013 as the Volunteer Services Coordinator. Marietta took great pride in her career supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Marietta was a certified YMCA aquatic instructor for the Arthritis Foundation, and conducted a therapeutic pool program for senior citizens. She was also a certified Aerobic and Fitness Association of America exercise instructor. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Millbrook Day Habilitation Program, where she conducted group exercise classes for individuals receiving services.  Marietta was a devote member of St Joseph's Church, Millbrook.
She is survived by her daughters; Constance Fairchild of Mt. Kisco, NY, and Jacqueline Mastropietro and her husband John of Rosendale, NY; her grandchild, Mia Mastropietro of Rosendale, NY; her brother, Salvatore Russo and his wife JoAnn of Patchogue, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation, funeral services and burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marietta's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Millbrook.
