Mariano Tiga Muyot, of Fishkill, NY, entered peacefully into Eternal Rest on May 3, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  Mariano was born in Manila, the Philippines on December 26, 1935, to Dr. Vedasto Muyot and Juliana Tiga Muyot, the youngest of 6 boys.  As a young boy, Mariano witnessed the atrocities of the war-torn Philippines during World War II.  His gratitude toward the U.S. "G.I."'s who liberated the Philippines was so great that he joined the U.S. Navy in Subic Bay, the Philippines in 1962.

Mariano was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy.  He served with distinction from 1962 to 1968 and was a combat veteran.  He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.  He became a U.S. citizen by virtue of his service in the U.S. Military.  In 1963, while on shore leave, Mariano met and later married the love of his life, Marie McCaffrey Muyot.  They married on April 4, 1964, in San Diego, CA, and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary together.

Mariano leaves behind his loving wife, Marie, daughter Juliana LoBiondo, and son in law Anthony LoBiondo, of Newburgh, NY; and his son Michael Muyot, of Poughkeepsie, NY; as well as four devoted grandsons, Vuk Muyot, Christian LoBiondo, Nikola Muyot, and Michael LoBiondo.

After leaving the Navy, Mariano worked for IBM East Fishkill, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.  He retired in 1987.  Mariano and Marie enjoyed every moment of their retirement together.  They enjoyed watching the Knicks and Jeopardy together, gathering with friends and family; and most of all, they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.  The Muyot and LoBiondo clans often gathered for their many birthdays, anniversary, holiday and other family celebrations, and enjoyed their Sunday dinners together.  Mariano, a born story teller, loved to talk to everyone he met and was passionate about keeping alive the stories of World War II and Vietnam.

The family will receive friends and neighbors on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial  for Mariano will be Saturday, May 7th, at 1:00 pm, at St. John's the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon, NY followed by a private burial service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to:  St. John's the Evangelist Church.
