Marianne O. Walker

Marianne Odette Walker, 82, of Pleasant Valley, New York, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2026.

Born in 1944 in Brooklyn, New York, Marianne was the daughter of Bruno Sengstock and Lucie Le Floch. She built a distinguished career at Independence Bank in Brooklyn, rising to the position of Vice President of Loan Association before retiring in 2004. Marianne was also actively involved with the National Association of Bank Women, where she helped champion and advance opportunities for women in financial services.

Marianne married Thomas Walker in 1992. They first made their home in Carmel, New York, before later settling in Pleasant Valley, NY. She was devoted to her family and friends and found great joy in cooking, visiting outdoor markets, and spending time with the people she loved.

Marianne was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Robert Forbell; her twin brother, Frank Sengstock; and her siblings, Lucie Vendetti, Helen Gable, Bernhard Sengstock, and Frederick Sengstock.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Walker; her son, Frank Forbell, and his wife, Kristi Coleman, of Glassboro, New Jersey; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Main Street in Pleasant Valley on Monday, July 27, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marianne’s memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
