Marcella "Marcy" Herdzik passed away on July 25, 2021 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home, East Greenbush, NY. Marcy was a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie for 58 years. She was born and grew up in Moorestown, NJ, the daughter of Louis and Sophie Cullen. She married her husband, Richard, on Oct. 13, 1956 in Good Council Church in Moorestown.
After graduating from high school, she worked as a secretary in the advertising department at Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ. They were interesting and fun years and she often related many stories about those early "Lassie" shows, sponsored by Campbell Soup Co.
A dedicated wife and mother, she and Richard raised four daughters. She was a founding member of the local "Parents of Hearing Impaired Children" working diligently for the educational rights of their children in a mainstreamed environment in the public schools. She started working for BOCES as an aide, and later as an interpreter for hearing impaired students in the mainstreamed classrooms.
While her daughters were growing up, she was an active 4H leader and a CCD teacher for many years at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley. Marcy was a member of Club 60, serving as its secretary for 10 years and enjoyed doing crafts and playing Mah Jong. during her senior years.

She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Katherine Herdzik-Kamm and spouse, Michael Kamm, of Averill Park, NY, Nancy Magliocchino of Poughkeepsie, and Dianne Carolan and spouse, John, of Wyckoff, NJ and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Kyle, Tyler, and Shawn Magliocchino, Mark Kamm, Andrew and Elizabeth Carolan. Marcella was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Maier in 2018 and her beloved brothers, Louis Cullen, Jr.  in 2008 and younger brother, Francis Cullen in 2012.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 28 from 9 am – 9:45 am at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am from St. Stanislaus Church, 1590 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Interment will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
