Louise Mary Rice of Pleasant Valley entered into her Eternal Rest on January 5, 2019 in the peaceful setting of the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, surrounded by her loving family.She was born on March 14, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, NY daughter of the late Lucille and Ernest Miscione.
She was a lifelong Hudson Valley resident and graduate of Roosevelt High School.   On November 28, 1959 she married her high school sweetheart John Rice who predeceased her in 2015 after 56 years of marriage.  Together, Louise and John worked very hard to establish themselves professionally and provide for their growing family.   Working side by side, they founded two companies, Empire Business Forms and Forms for You, where they employed dozens of Hudson Valley residents.   Louise was a gracious hostess, welcoming anyone and everyone to her table for food and conversation.   She could easily be talked into making a trip to the casino, especially if she had that "lucky" feeling.   She was particularly attentive to the needs of children, and supported the March of Dimes for many years.

She is survived by her loving children, Suzanne Rice and husband John Schopfer, Michael Rice and wife Mary Canto Rice, and daughter Kathleen Rice.  She doted on grandchildrenThomas, Nicholas, and Katherine Rice, and John Owen and August Schopfer.   Also mourning her are her brothers Ernest Miscione and wife Barbara, and Vincent Miscione and wife Lynnette.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the outstanding staff at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence for their professional and compassionate care at a difficult time.

Friends and family may call on Thursday January 10, 2019 from 4:30 to 7:30pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Avenue, Poughkeepsie.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday January 11, 2019 at 10 am at ST. Stanislaus Church, 1590 Main Street, Pleasant Valley.
Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
