Louise Margaret Grey, 93 of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Saturday, July 2 at her residence. Born on June 6, 1929 in Wingdale, New York, she was the daughter of Herman and Henrietta Ramnitz, who ran a farm along with her three brothers, Ernest, Henry and Frank. The family moved to Poughkeepsie in the 1930's, where she attended Poughkeepsie schools.
Following World War II, Louise met and married Elting Clayton Grey Jr. at the First Lutheran Church of Poughkeepsie, on September 10, 1951.
Louise worked for New York Telephone while her husband started Grey's Market on South White Street in Poughkeepsie. As the business grew, Louise left the phone company to work along side her husband. They ran the store for 43 years before retiring to Florida.

Louise is survived by her 2 children; James Elting Grey, and wife Madeline of Poughkeepsie and Audrey Jurutka and her husband John of Red Hook; her 4 grandchildren, Erin Peters and husband Tom of Middletown, Delaware, John Paul Jurutka and fiance Sarah of Springfield Center, NY, Erika Gruntler and her husband Wayne of Pleasant Valley, NY and Evan Grey of Poughkeepsie, NY; her great grandchildren, Aryanna, Logan, Callyn, Mason and Jackilyn. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise loved to golf, bowl and enjoyed watching baseball on television. She also loved playing the piano and accordion and was famous for her potato salad. Louise was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church and a member of the Germania German Club for many years

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6 from 5-8 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 7 at 11 am from the funeral home. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
