Obituary

On September 25, 2021, Lisa Campanaro, loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away at the age 50. Lisa was born in Yonkers, NY to Eugene and Pamela Campanaro.  She was the first of four children, and faithfully assumed her role as big sister at an early age. Throughout her life, Lisa was known for her enthusiastic loyalty to her family. You could always count on her to root for you, listen to you, and defend you (even sometimes when it wasn't necessary). She was loved for her good and trusting nature and as someone who always had the best of intentions and her heart in the right place.  Lisa's spirit and drive for kindness and generosity were a hallmark of her personality. Those that knew her would say that she brought a little cheer to many people's daily lives. She was a friend to many.

Lisa loved being a mother to her son, Brandon, and an aunt to her nieces, Leah, Sonia and Grace and her "fur nieces and nephews", Josie, Lincoln, Tucker and Zander.  She had a special bond with her Aunt Eileen whom she would travel with and visit in Florida. She was a proud "mother" and companion to Harmony, a Cockatiel bird, who she had for many years. Harmony was verbal and would speak to Lisa and call her "Mommy Bird".
Though she received only a modest income, Lisa loved spoiling her loved ones with gifts and was well known for wrapping every present no matter how small or large, in wrapping paper and what always seemed like an entire roll of scotch tape.  It didn't matter if you were a human, dog, cat, bird or Betta Fish, at some point you would be on the receiving end of a gift from Lisa.
She enjoyed working on puzzles, making jewelry and volunteering with Christian Pen Pal Connection, mailing cards and letters to incarcerated men and women to connect them with mentors and supporting initiatives that helped people experiencing homelessness.  Lisa will be greatly missed and will remembered for her kindness, warm affection, delightful sense of humor, big personality and genuine nature.  Though her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, we are thankful for the years, memories and happy times that we all shared with her.

Lisa is survived by her grandmother, Juanita Fedorczak, her father, Gene Campanaro, her son, Brandon Gorgas, her siblings and their spouses, Christine and Adam Plouffe, David Campanaro and Sarah Scigliano, Jonathan Campanaro and Dolly Thomas; her nieces, Sonia, Leah and Grace, Campanaro; her aunts and uncles and their spouses, Eileen Bennici, Karen and Roger Faye, Kevin Campanaro, Janeen and Paul Murray, and many beloved cousins and extended family. She is predeceased by her mother, Pamela Campanaro, her grandparents, Eugene and Theresa Campanaro, Peter Fedorczak; her uncle, Joseph Bennici; aunts, Tina Campanaro, Theresa Fitzgibbons, and her cousin, Joseph Bennici.

Visitation for Lisa will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM, at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Graveside services will be private.
