It is with profound sadness that we announce the pass of our beloved mother, Linda Marion Rothmann. She passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025 at the age of 81 in Rhinebeck, New York.
Linda was born in New York City, on December 2, 1943. She graduated from Onteora High School, went on to complete the nursing program at Dutchess Community College and eventually earned her BSN at Mount Saint Mary's while raising her family.
Linda took great pride in her career. She was an OB/GYN nightshift nurse at Vassar Brother's Hospital for most of her career, where she worked on various units including the NICU. She was known by her patients and staff for her compassion and dedication.
Linda balanced not just her career, but a family. Her home was a place of comfort, safety and a home cooked meal. She was a Den Mother, Girl Scout leader and a church youth leader. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, roller skating and much later in life, traveling and Bingo! In those years, she would head social networks in her retirement community and hold various positions on multiple church boards/
Linda's greatest loves of all were her family and church. Linda is survived by her brother George and his wife Tonya Rothmann, her son, Robert Durland Jr. and his wife Sarah, her daughter Linda Hixson and her husband Todd, daughter, Nancy Surico and her husband David, and, her daughter Cindy Sims. Her grandchildren, Adrienne Durland, Evan Paulin, Brianna Durland, Heather Adams, Rachael Hixson, Christopher Adams and Cory Hixson and, her great grandchildren, Izaiah, Evangelina, Ariana and Garrett.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, George and Adele Rothmann, her former husband, Robert Durland Sr. and her granddaughter, Cassandra Durland.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 808 Traver Road, Pleasant Valley, NY, at 10 am on Friday, October 17, 2025 with an luncheon to follow.
