It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Linda Mary Hines, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to all who knew her. She passed away on May 9, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Hospital surrounded by her husband and children. Linda was born on May 17, 1947 in Peekskill NY to Adelaide and Robert Kull. She grew up surrounded by her sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a graduate of Arlington High School which upon graduating worked at IBM and retired from Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Above all else, Linda was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was the center of her world, and she especially relished in her grandchildren.  She had a gift for saying unintentionally funny things and was always game for a laugh. Her biggest laughs were always with her sister and her kids who were prone to teasing her for everything and anything. Linda had a very special love of animals especially dogs and elephants. She dedicated many years of her life to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, making special matches for dogs and their forever families. She found joy with all the furry companions in her home, but none more so than Rosie, her black lab. In her spare time she found joy in tending to her gardens, going shopping, and watching Bridgerton.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; her children Daniel and Melissa; her grandchildren: Asher and River; her sister and brother-in-law Beverley and Carmen Montante and many dear friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her mother, Adelaide Kull. Those who had the privilege of knowing Linda carry a piece of her with them always – in a joke shared and piece of advice remembered. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 14th at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home at 110 Fulton Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY. Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 13th from 4pm-8pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Guiding Eyes for the Blind in her memory.
