Lawrence Henry, beloved son of Burl and Shirley Henry, Poughkeepsie, NY, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Suffern, NY. Larry was born in Endicott, NY, March 20, 1962. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1981, and continued his education at Dutchess Community College. He worked at Caldor's, Fargo Manufacturing, and for the past 17 years, at ShopRite, in Carmel, NY, while residing at Supervised Life Styles, Brewster, NY. Larry loved to travel, play chess, collect coins and stamps, and had a deep interest in Astronomy; thus, great enthusiasm for watching his sets of Star Trek and Star Wars videos. He followed baseball and football, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers; however, he also rooted for the New York Mets and Jets. He was an avid reader of Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler, but aside from the Bible, he always wanted to read Oswald Chamber's, "My Utmost for His Highest". He was well liked by everyone who knew him, and will be deeply missed by his parents, his sister, Nancy, and her husband Steven, and their daughters, Karen and Emily, Villanova, PA, his uncle, Irvin Henry and his wife, Amy, Sligo, PA, his uncle, Marvin Henry and his wife, Patricia, Mercer, PA, and his aunt, Dorothy Hummel, and her children, Melanie and John, of Knox, PA., and other cousins. Calling hours will be Thursday, 6:00-9:00 p.m, and Friday, 10-noon at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY. The funeral service follows immediately, Pastor Gary Croniser, New Beginnings C & MA, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, Callensburg, PA. Flowers can be sent to Allen Funeral Home in Pleasant Valley or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Larry's favorite charity at stjude.org.
