Kleo Galanos 90, of Poughkeepsie, New York passed away peacefully on August 17th 2025 after a brief illness. She was born in Kingston, New York on September 26, 1934, the daughter of Nicholas and Barbara (Derbaras) Manolakes. She grew up in New Paltz, New York. She met her husband and the love of her life, James Galanos in 1955. They married on September 9, 1956 and shared 57 years together. He predeceased her on April 30th 2013. Kleo enjoyed working and was a devoted mother raising her family. Her work career included IBM, Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, Rojohn Electronics, and YMCA. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking, and taking care of her home. She will always be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her.
Kleo is survived by her two sons, Louis of Pleasant Valley, New York, and Nicholas of Poughkeepsie, New York. Survived by her grandchildren, Louis Galanos Jr. (Elizabeth Burns fiancé) of Hyde Park, New York and Nicole Galanos of Pleasant Valley, New York and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers George and Theodore Manolakes.
Kleo was a lifelong member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church in Poughkeepsie, New York. There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held graveside at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery with Father Jason Dickey officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, Poughkeepsie.
