Obituary

Keith K. Backer, 59, of Pleasant Valley passed away peacefully on Friday May 6, 2016 at home. He was born on November 25, 1956 in Monticello to the late William T. and Elizabeth E. Backer. Keith graduated from Monticello High School in 1974. He was a member of the Glaziers Union and worked for the NYS Department of Transportation. His career led him to Vassar College where he worked as a glazier. While working at Vassar College he met Doreen Hammell. Keith and Doreen were married on January 1, 2011 at Vassar College Chapel. They were the love of each other's lives.
Keith enjoyed his cats and chickens. He always helped as many animals as he could. He loved working on his home that he shared with Doreen. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, motorcycles and tractors. Keith had a big heart and was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need.
Keith was loved and will be missed by all.
Keith is survived by his wife Doreen; sister Lorri Logan and her two daughters Erin and Caitlin; mother in law, Doris A. Hammell; sister in laws, Doris Jean Hammell, Margaret and her husband Lawrence Lovell, Ruth A. Hathaway, Denise and her husband Abe Kawaksheh, Karen and her husband David Doscher, Jodi Hammell; brother in law, Alfred and his wife Stacey Hammell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both his parents William T. and Elizabeth E. Backer and brother in law, James "Jimmy" J. Davis, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 form 4 to 8 PM, at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley , NY 12569. Funeral service will be held during visitation.
Interment will be private.
