Kathryn Myers, 75, of Millbrook, New York, passed away peacefully in her home on January 31, 2022 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Kathy was born on August 25, 1946 to Marvin and Margaret (Jingle) Chadwell of Millbrook, New York. Kathy was a graduate of Millbrook High School and Dutchess Community college. She married Bob Myers, the love of her life, on May 9, 1970. Kathy began her professional career at IBM and then moved to work at two educational institutions in Millbrook; first Bennett College and then Greer-Woodycrest. In the summer of 1991 she began work at the Millbrook Prep School and immediately knew this is where she wanted to be. Kathy worked as Secretary to the Headmaster at the Millbrook Prep School retiring after 25 years in 2015.
Kathy joined the Millbrook Fire Department Auxiliary in 1978. In 1982 Kathy became an active member of the Millbrook Fire Department and Rescue Squad. In May of 2007, Kathy became a Life Member of the Fire Department, having served 25 years.
Kathy and her family devoted 11 years of fundraising for the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation by sponsoring an annual dinner dance in the Millbrook community as a tribute to her sister Sue and other dear friends.
Kathy's first love was her family and her home. She loved the fall season and high school football and basketball games. She enjoyed walks around town, family holiday gatherings, vacation trips to Marblehead, MA to see her sister Deb and Vero Beach, Florida to see her sister Ann and spending time with her husband at home in Millbrook.
Kathy is survived by her husband Bob and daughter Kelly Tomasulo and husband Justin, as well as her grandson Trevor Gruntler. She is also survived by her sisters Deb Temme and husband Bill and Ann Spaeth and husband Don. and niece Shelley Hollingsworth. In addition to the immediate family, Kathy is survived by loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy is predeceased by her Dad Marvin, her Mom, "Jingle" and her sister Sue.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7 from 4-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, February 8 at 11 am from St. Joseph's Church, Millbrook
Kathy's family would like to say a special thank you to the loving caregivers from Flex Heathcare, specifically Mellissa, Luna, Stephanie, and Opal. Kathy, like her sister Sue, succumbed to Parkinson's. In lieu of flowers, Kathy's family would appreciate donations be made for the continued research and care for those with Parkinson's.
