Karen Ann Quinn passed away peacefully at the age of 79, on Monday, April 8th, 2024 during the solar eclipse surrounded in love by her family. Born on September 9, 1944, in Fort Benning, Georgia, Karen was the daughter of Lt. Col. Jack C. & Vivian (Flinn) Miller. Her early years were marked by a military family upbringing, living on several bases across the world with her family. She graduated from Sparta High School (Sparta, NJ) in 1962. After graduation, Karen pursued higher education, attending Indiana University and SUNY New Paltz, where she earned her Masters in Education. She embarked on her career in elementary education at North Park Elementary School in Hyde Park, NY.
Karen married the love of her life, John J Quinn, of Spackenkill, NY, on May 30, 1970. Together, they welcomed two children, Rebecca and Brian. After dedicating several years to raising her children, Karen resumed her teaching career at Cold Spring Elementary School in Stanfordville, NY. For decades, she nurtured and inspired countless young minds until her retirement.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Karen found joy in painting, drawing, continual learning, and immersing herself in literature. She was an active member of her community, volunteering her time as a Girl Scout Leader, serving on the Stanford Free Library Board, and contributing to the Altar Guild at Grace Church. However, her most cherished roles were those of a devoted mother, wife, friend, aunt, sister and Mimi.
Karen's vibrant spirit, infectious humor, unwavering empathy, and deep-rooted faith endeared her to all who knew her. She possessed a remarkable ability to see the goodness in others, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John Quinn; her daughter, Rebecca Rhea Vogel (Eric); son, Brian Patrick Quinn (Megan Super); grandchildren, MacKenna, Callen & Trevor Vogel; brother, Lt. Col. Jack C. Miller II (Lora); cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends.
