Justin Keith Macedonia died suddenly and unexpectedly on November 5, 2022. Born in New York City to Anne Dillon and Carmine Macedonia on February 6, 1959, Justin spent his early years in the Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan before moving to Riverdale, NY. The breathtaking view from his parents' 21 ^st floor apartment overlooking the Hudson River and the cliffs of Palisades Park was formative for him, and a view that he would admire throughout his life.

He was a curious, bright, and competitive child who excelled in academics and earned a seat at the Bronx High School of Science where he later graduated. He went on to earn an A.B. from Elizabeth Seton College, and later graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He received his law degree from Harvard University in 1986. After his time in Cambridge, he was eager to return to New York and begin a career in corporate law. He became an associate at Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts, and stayed at the firm for over a decade. Working on mergers and acquisitions well into the night, he was grateful to be able to stop and admire the sunset out of this window towards the Statue of Liberty.

On February 21, 1998 at the age of 39, Justin had found his match and married Tiffany Thomas. A few years later, he and Tiffany left the city for life in the country in Dutchess County, NY. Together they started their family while renovating an 1820 colonial house and farm. It may have taken a while, but he embraced the "Green Acres" life style and his tractor, "Big Blue." He enjoyed taking long country walks, especially in a light rain, with his yellow labrador "Belle" following close behind. He fell in love with the Hudson Valley, spending weekends exploring all it had to offer.

In 2006, he left law behind and embarked on his second career, starting his own business. He founded Video Caption Corporation in Stanfordville, NY, which has since become an industry leader in closed captioning, subtitling, and audio description services. He built and headed a strong, dedicated team of individuals.

Justin had a sharp mind and an even-sharper wit. He was inquisitive and never afraid to ask a question or learn something new. He kept "important" piles of newspapers, magazines, and books that he methodically read through. He saved his favorites to read laying on a beautiful beach or sitting by the pool. He was also particularly interested in domestic and international politics and foreign affairs. You could count on him to watch his favorite Sunday talk shows and the nightly PBS NewsHour, talking back to the talking heads as if they were with him in the living room. He was always prepared for spirted debate at the dinner table or over a glass of fine scotch. Passionate about wellness and exercise, his web browser always had several tabs open to the latest articles on diet, exercise, and health supplements. When his local gym closed during the pandemic, he built his own personal gym so he could continue his dedicated routine of power lifting. We will miss him bursting through the door, telling us about his latest personal best on his bench press.

He was immensely proud of and found great joy in his children. His daughters, Claire and Grace, have just begun their college years. During their daily FaceTime calls, Justin would routinely inquire about what they were learning in their classes, jealous at times that he was not in their shoes. He admired the successful life that his son Andrew had built for himself in Seattle. He has left a hole in our hearts, but his spirit, humor, unwavering loyalty, and love will never be forgotten. We never expected him to leave us so soon. Justin is survived by his wife Tiffany; children Andrew (Rachel), Claire, and Grace; brother Laurian "Greg" and sister Alexa (Sterling); father Carmine; mother-in-law Rita May Thomas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at The Harvard Club (35 West 44 ^th Street, New York, NY 10036) on Friday, December 9 ^th from 4 to 7pm.
