Judith "Judy" A. Zangl Probolus of Poughkeepsie, New York passed away in Melbourne, Florida on April 11, 2022. She was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, November 15, 1946 the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Kessenich Zangl, she had a brotherThomas Zangl who preceded her in 1989.
Judy graduated high school from Saint Mary's Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, and then went to the Benedictine School of Nursing, in Kingston NY where she received her RN degree and was licensed to practice nursing in New York.
On July 19.1969 she married George F. Probolus.  Judy and George were blessed and enjoyed 53 years of marriage.  Judy and George were a match made in heaven and the best of friends. They especially enjoyed their Poughkeepsie home and friends, and their winters with friends in Melbourne Florida.
Nursing was Judy's profession and passion for 30 years at Castle Point Veterans Hospital.  Judy cared deeply about her co-workers and patients.  Her career brought her great fulfillment.  Most apparent to everyone was her kindness and gentle bedside manner.  Judy made friends easily because she genuinely cared for people. While at the Veterans Hospital she had opportunities in management and clinical areas which enhanced her overall professional skills.  A most rewarding accomplishment was The American Journal of Nursing publication of her article describing nursing care for AIDS patients.
Retirement enhanced many special talents; Judy was a talented water color artist and Judy painted portraits of relatives, landscapes, birds, flowers and still life. Judy also became a very competent sailor, who totally enjoyed sailing and demonstrated extraordinary seamanship skills. Judy excelled as a culinary wizard, whether at anchor or under sail. As a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary serving as a Flotilla Staff Officer, Judy taught several public education courses on vessel safety, seamanship, and first aid.
Judy enjoyed traveling to local and distant places by both land and sea.  There were frequent road trips to visit relatives and reconnect with friends while continuing to research her family's genealogy. She also thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, bird watching, floral and vegetable gardening.
Judy is survived by her husband George, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Judy was a devout Catholic and her faith sustained her throughout her life and illness. Her compassion for others always came first.
