Judith A. Daughton, 81, of Rhinebeck, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021 at the Baptist Home at Brookmeade after a long illness. Born in 1939 in New Rochelle, NY, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Lindsay Fairweather and Ruth McIntyre Roberts. A graduate of Eastchester High School, she pursued a bachelor's degree in childhood education from the State University of New York at New Paltz, graduating in 1962. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a respected educator in the Millbrook Central School District for nearly 40 years.
She was a kind and selfless person, teaching the valuable skills of reading and writing to hundreds of children during her lengthy teaching career. She participated in many community youth groups as her daughters grew up. She attended many Girl Scout and 4-H functions, concerts and choir recitals, and countless high school sporting events in the Millbrook community. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling the country to visit friends and family, and volunteered at the Millbrook Library where she continued to share her love of reading with the community.
Judith was pre-deceased by her husband, James Daughton, Sr, and two stepchildren, Donna Daughton and James Daughton, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Michael) Devine of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amy Calamari of Hyde Park, New York, and her beloved grandson Thomas Calamari.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Millbrook, NY. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Union Vale Fire Company, PO Box 6, Verbank, NY 12585.
