Joseph D. Osso, 67, of Poughkeepsie died on November 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Rocco, and daughter, Nicole. He is survived by his wife, Karen; mother, Carolyn; children, Joseph Jr. (Tara), Timothy (Jessica), and Matthew (Rachel); 6 grandchildren; siblings Roxanne (John), Gary (Dorene), and Rocco Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He earned his B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Clarkson University, obtained a New York State Professional Engineer license, and retired from New York State Department of Transportation after 33 years of service.
He was a parishioner at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Pleasant Valley. He loved hearing updates about and visiting with his grandchildren, was a family-proclaimed dog-whisperer, an avid outdoorsman, a hunter safety instructor, and a recreational sports coach for many Town of Poughkeepsie baseball and Pleasant Valley soccer players.
Calling hours will be held at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, NY on Tuesday November 8, 2022 from 5 to 8 o'clock PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, NY and entombment at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY on Wednesday November 9, 2022 starting at 10 o'clock (AM) at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pancreas Center at Columbia University or Hudson Valley Hospice.
