John Vincent Rice of Pleasant Valley succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease on October 13, 2015 in the peaceful setting of The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 18, 1938 in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late Mabelle and Thomas Rice. He was a lifelong Hudson Valley Resident, h e proudly served his country in the United States Army where he served in Germany, he graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and in May of 1957 graduated from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute in Utica, New York. On November 28, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Louise Miscione. John was a well respected and hardworking local business man where he founded two companies Empire Business Forms and Forms for You where he employed dozens of Hudson Valley Residents. John was a very hardworking, decent man who deeply loved his family, country and the Hudson Valley. .One of his passions was sitting by the Hudson River reading his newspaper with his friends. He is survived by his devoted wife Louise Rice, Loving Children Suzanne Rice and her husband John Schopfer, Michael Rice and his wife Mary Canto Rice, Kathleen Rice. Doting grandfather Thomas, Nicholas, Katherine Rice, John Owen and August Schopfer. The family would like to express its gratitude to the outstanding staff at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence for their professional and compassionate care at a difficult time. Friends may call on Friday October 16, 2015 from 4-8pm at Parmele Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 11 Fulton Ave, Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 17, 2015 at 10am at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery with military honors.
