Obituary

John Emil Pucek, 69, of New Hamburg, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 peacefully at Vassar Brothers Hospital. John was born December 18, 1945 in New York City to the late John and Veronica (Stvrtecky) Pucek. He was a lifelong resident, graduating from Roy C. Kethcham High School in 1964. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees and proudly served his country from 1967 to 1970, which included a tour in Vietnam. John had a passion for hunting and belonged to many local sportsman associations. He was a life member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club, the Elks Lodge in Wappingers, the American Legion, Post 1302 and the Mobile Construction Battalion 12. He was also an avid Giants fan. John will be missed by all. Survivors including his daughter; Lynette Pucek and her significant other Marty Johncey of Wurtsboro, son; John E. Pucek II and his significant other Janet Figa and children Courtney and Justin of LaGrange, sisters; Veronica and her husband Ray Relyea of Pleasant Valley and Paula Byer of Rochester, brothers; Andrew and his wife Patty of Costa Rica and Anthony Pucek of Hopewell Jct. Others survivors include Donna Safran Pucek and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister in-law Carol Pucek. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, Inc., 900 Route 82 Hopewell Jct., NY 12533. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday from the funeral home at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wappingers. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 1302, 55 Overlook Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 or a charity of your choice.
