A Life of Love, Faith, and Family

John F Loftus passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Born to Anne and John Peter Loftus, John lived a full and remarkable life—one that he was both proud of and grateful to call his own. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Norah Loftus; his four children, Diane, Tim, Barb, and Tisha; his eight grandchildren, Sean, Stephanie, James, Caileigh, Logan, Kisha, Hakim, and Jessica; and his three great-grandchildren, Declan, Shea, and Ronan.

John often shared stories of growing up in his neighborhood, where lifelong friendships were forged through adventure and laughter. He delighted in telling tales of swimming in the Hudson River as icebergs drifted by and enjoying dances that became treasured memories throughout his life.

After graduating from Power Memorial Academy, John joined the United States Navy, embarking on an adventure that took him across Europe, Africa, and beyond. It was during those years that he met the love of his life, Norah, while roller skating. What began as a chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong partnership built on love, commitment, and family.

After his military service, John built a distinguished career as an electrician and proud member of IBEW Local 3. Beginning as an apprentice, he worked his way up to managing major projects for some of the union's largest contractors. He took immense pride in his craft, his union membership, and the sense of brotherhood he found among his fellow workers.

While John's accomplishments were many, it was his character that defined him most. He was deeply proud of his Irish heritage and instilled that pride in his children. He was a man of faith and spirituality, always seeking to learn, grow, and become a better person. He taught his family the importance of giving more than you take, of treating others with kindness and respect, and of understanding the transformative power of a father's love.

When measuring a life, it is not the years alone that matter, but the legacy left behind. John's legacy is one of love, compassion, generosity, and steadfast devotion to family. He touched countless lives through his example, his wisdom, and his caring heart.

He will be forever remembered, forever loved, and forever missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4 to 8 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11 am at St. Stanislaus Kostka, 1590 Main St. Pleasant Valley, NY 12569.
