With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Joann Louise (Gilli) Griffin on Saturday April 5, 2025. She was born June 29, 1954 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Martha (Nicholson) Gilli and John R. Gilli Sr.

Joann graduated from Arlington High School in 1973 and Boces where she learned food preparation. After graduating she pursued her love of cooking and became employed with Howard Johnson's in Poughkeepsie, NY as a cook for 26 years. Later went to Banta's when Howard Johnson's closed.

After marrying her husband William Griffin in 1998 in Beekman she became involved with Beekman Fire Dept. with her husband. She was fire police and involved with Bingo and the Women's Auxiliary. Later they mooed to Union Vale and both joined the Union Vale Fire Dept. where she was a life member. She loved being with her family for holidays and was looking forward to camping with her husband which they did every year.

Joann was predeceased by her mother, father, brother James Gilli and grandparents on both sides… James and Mary Gilli and Arthur and Josephine Nicholson.

She is survived by her husband William Griffin of Poughquag, NY, sister Sandra Katalina (Mike) of Claverack, NY, brother John Gilli Jr. (Elaine) of Oxford. NY, sister Donna Hedges (Scott) of Copake Falls, NY and three stepsons- William, David, and Daniel Griffin of Florida. Also surviving are her aunt and uncle Betty and James Jones of Hopewell Jct., NY and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Millbrook, NY on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from2-4 and 7-9 with a prayer service occurring during the evening service.
