Joan E. Palumbo, 89, of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.
Born in Cold Spring, NY on July 19, 1931, to the late Edward Mason and Maude O'Dell-Mason.
On July 20, 1952 at St. John's Church in Beacon, Joan married Joseph Palumbo.
Joan prided herself in being an efficient homemaker with good meals that were always followed by dessert. Joan and her husband owned Better 'n' New Antique Shop in Garrison and also owned Palumbo & Son Refuse in Garrison. They loved traveling north and to the Blue Ridge Mountains in their motor home looking for antiques and unusual finds. In her younger years she was a singer in "The Mason Sisters".
Joan is survived by her daughter, Victoria Spoleti of Pleasant Valley; her son, Joseph and Theresa Palumbo of Wappingers Falls; three granddaughters: Jennifer and Daniel Tubbs of Marlboro, Gina and Daniel Gallagher of Stormville and Christina Spoleti of Hopewell Junction. Along with her three great grandchildren, Gianna Artale, Lauren Tubbs, & Daniel Gallagher III. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, three sisters Marie Uberbacher, Evelyn Trimble, Connie Rathjen, and her brother Wallace Mason.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 17 from 9-10am at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley.
Funeral services will follow at 11am at St Philips Church in Garrison, NY. Interment will follow at the Cold Spring Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Pleasant Valley Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services.
