Jessica V. Quinn, affectionately known as the "Mighty Quinn", entered into rest on Thursday April 7, 2022 at the age of 72. Born on September 30, 1949, Jessica was the daughter of the William D. and Gladys T. Horne.
On May 15, 1971 she married the love of her life Daniel J. Quinn who predeceased her in August 1971. There was no one for her like Danny after he passed away tragically from Lou Gerig's Disease so quickly after their marriage.
Jessica graduated from the Arlington School district, was a Girl Scout leader for many years with Troop #55 and went on to hold jobs at Marine Midland Bank, Dupont Labs, a driver for MDS Labs and a few other jobs. Her favorite job was driving for MDS Labs getting to be social with all the staff and doctors she met along the way. She could tell you all the best places to get coffee and ice cream in a 3 county distance.
Jessica was a very social person and was nicknamed the "Mayor of Pleasant Valley" by the regular customers at the Village Restaurant and Short Hills in Pleasant Valley which she frequented often for her daily meals. Jessica was a co-leader for her niece Melissa's Girl Scout Troop #55 for 12 years. She was the treasurer for the troop and helped to keep track of the fundraisers and monies the troop had as they planned for their trips to Washington, D.C. for 4 days in 1988 and to England to visit Girl Guides and tour the country's historical sites for 10 days in 1991.
Jessica's "hobbies" were driving and talking on the phone. Over the years, Jessica would be the one constant in a person's life calling them daily to check on their welfare. This was so much appreciated by the recipient and was helpful to the family of the person as they aged.
Jessica is survived by her mother Gladys T. Horne, three sisters: Wendy and her husband Fred Wohlfahrt of Port Charlotte, Florida; Diana Ritchie of Pleasant Valley, NY; Bonnie and her husband Mark MacBrien of Waterbury, Vermont; nephew Patrick Vishnesky and his significant other Svetlana of Poughkeepsie, NY; great niece Zoey Vishnesky, god daughter Alice Fedyra, god son Adam Giles and many cousins. Jessica was predeceased by her Dad William D. Horne, niece Melissa Ritchie and her little dog Socks.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the loving staff at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, all the wonderful people at Hospice, her special friend Anita of many years and many other friends who made her last months easier.
Calling hours will be held on Friday June 3 ^rd from 7-9PM at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, NY. A short memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 8PM with Pastor Laurie Spencer officiating. Interment will follow on Saturday June 4 ^th at 11AM at St. Peter's Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
