Jean (Hitsman) Westkaemper, formerly of North Clove, N.Y. and Owego, NY, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at home in Whitehouse Station, NJ.  Mrs. Westkaemper was predeceased by her cherished mother and father Ruth (Darling) Hitsman (2003) and Franklyn Hitsman (1949), her brother Franklyn J. (Bud) Hitsman (1996), and her sister Carol Pruner (2001).  She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Westkaemper, her daughters and sons-in-law Cindy and George Ruiz and Laura and Charles Miller, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean, an RN graduated from Vassar Brothers School of Nursing, was passionate about caring for people and was recognized by staff and patients alike for her exemplary bedside manner.  She was an avid reader and backyard bird watcher. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, Franklin Ave., Millbrook, N.Y.  Burial will follow in the Verbank Cemetery.
