Janet Lee (Russell) Scott, 81, a lifelong resident of Millbrook, NY, passed away at home on October 8, 2015. She was born on May 25, 1934 at Vassar Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY, to the late William C. and Marian (Fenton) Russell. Janet graduated from Millbrook High School in 1952. She married the late Robert E. Scott on May 16, 1954. Janet was a dedicated employee of Cardinal Hayes Home for Children since November 1961. She was a certified medical distributor. Even after her retirement in 2006, she remained available for the Home and continued to provide the children with her loving care. She was full of pride when she talked of the children at the Home. Janet was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. If you met Janet once, she remembered you. She could tell you a story or fact about anyone. Janet was a beloved caregiver to her loyal pets. She was an avid sports fan, supporting her New York Mets and Green Bay Packers. She was always there to listen when you needed her. She enjoyed playing cards and discussing history. Janet is survived by her loving son, Gregory. She is also survived by her twin sister, Nancy Lee (Russell) and Richard G. Hastede of Nelsonville, NY; two sisters-in-law, Helen Russell Doland of Millbrook, NY and Thelma Russell of Clinton Corners, NY; and many nieces, nephews and their extended families. She was predeceased by her brothers, James W. Russell and Gilman R. Russell. She was also predeceased by her great-grandniece, Natalee Hytinen. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12 from 4-8 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 13 at 10 am from St. Joseph's Church , North Ave. Millbrook. Interment will follow in Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook. Janet's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice as well as several home nursing services for the wonderful care she received during her long illness. Memorial donations may be made in Janet's memory to Cardinal Hayes Home for Children or Dutchess County SPCA.
