Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, Jane graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and Albany Business College.  She began working at IBM as a secretary and finished her career as a manager of an Administrative Systems Center.  She and George had their first child in 1973, and she decided to become a stay-at-home mom.

Jane was an active member of our community. She served as President of the Dutchess County Bar Auxiliary and the Board of Managers of the Children's Home of Poughkeepsie.  She was also active in the Germania club and co-chaired the Children's Christmas Party for many years.  She was always interested in her children receiving the best education, which led her to become active in the local PTA, and subsequently led her to become the President of the New York State PTA and eventually be elected to the National Board of PTA.   She continued to be active as a member of the Dutchess County Republican Committee as a Committeeperson from the Town of LaGrange.  In the year 2000, she was chosen as the Woman of the Year by the Poughkeepsie Women's Republican Club.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth, son-in-law Terry, and their son Colin (5), and her son Gregory, daughter-in-law Robin, and their son Gregor (7).  She is also survived by her brother Earl, his wife Donna, and their children Theressa and Derek and their families.  She was predeceased in 2010 by her husband George, who served as an attorney, a Family Court Judge, and Surrogate Judge.

Jane enjoyed traveling, including her annual trip to Notre Dame for a football game, and a summer week on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.  She was particularly fond of cruising.  She took her children and their families on a Disney Cruise earlier this summer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Parmele, Auchmoody, & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. Visitation will begin at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
