James M. Kennedy, 87 passed away peacefully at home on February 7 ^th . 2022 with family by his side. Jim was born on June 27, 1934, in New York City. He moved with his family to Millbrook in 1947.
Jim married his Marni ("Machree") on October 12, 1957, at St. Peter's of Alcantra, Port Washington, NY. Jim graduated from Fordham University School of Business in 1956 and later attended Fordham University as a graduate student. Jim was a sales manager for AT & T for 25 years. Following his retirement, he joined forces with his son Joseph to establish Kennedy Tree Care from which he retired after 25 years.
Jim was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Presidential Honor Guard and the illustrious SILENT DRILL TEAM performing around the world. Jim was very civic minded. He served as president of the Millbrook Lions Club. He enthusiastically participated in the Millbrook Community Center. Jim loved golf and was a longstanding member of the Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club. He was a devout Catholic and Founded the Eucharistic Ministers with Rev. John Patrick Moore.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marni, of 64 years, son Joseph, and daughter Marielle. Jim is also survived by his four grandchildren; Jamie (Rachel) of Saratoga Springs, Meghan of Cobleskill, NY, Matthew (Kim Foshay – fiancé) Parry, Jeffrey Parry, both of Bridgeport, CT. Jim was blessed to have four great grandchildren; Riley, Brody,Londyn, and Connor. Jim was predeceased by his brother, Joseph, his sister, Margaret, and Joseph's fiancé, Kathleen. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Kennedy, his mother Elizabeth (Jennings) and his infant son, Timothy. The family gratefully thanks Hudson Valley Hospice for their devoted care of Jim. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 11 ^th, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook, NY with Rev. Hartley Bancroft officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's hospital and St. Joseph's Church. Millbrook NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Millbrook.
