Irene Decker, 87, of Salt Point NY died suddenly at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Thursday October 30, 2025. Her daughter Alicia Swartz was with her. Irene was born 6/17/1938 to Jim and Irene Scalli . Her parents and brother Jim have predeceased her. Irene was a loving sister to Rosemary Losee who resides in Mesa, Arizona.  Irene married her best friend John C. Decker on July 11, 1965 and they were never apart. They shared a long happy and loving marriage until January 18, 2022 when John passed away. Irene was friends with many and loved by all. Irene and John owned Decker's Miss Lamanchas goats and they were known throughout the NY and New England area. Irene was in the Dutchess County 4H organization for 50 years. She was a goat judge, regional organizer of goat shows, secretary and 4H leader for many years. She served in every capacity and did so with love, compassion, fairness, and professionalism. Irene was also big on making cards with all of her friends.

She was a person with a big heart to do and help others. She had a heart of gold and was a rock for her family. Irene's life was about her husband John, her daughter Alicia Swartz and husband Jeff and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene was loved by her nieces and nephews who live in Tennessee, NY, and Florida. Her biggest affection was her puppy Jay – C. Irene will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She is now back with her true love John.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 6 from 4-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7 at 11 am from the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
