Howard R. Butler, 72, passed away on October 5, 2021, at the Grand at Hudson Valley after a short illness with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on January 29, 1949, the son of the late Margaret (Gardiner) and Oscar H. Butler. Howard is survived by his sister, Marlaine Butler. He was an avid reader of mystery novels, an expert in movie trivia, and loved watching movies in the theater and on TV.
He enjoyed family gatherings at his aunt Shirley and cousin Michelle's home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  He loved seeing everyone and the fabulous food
He enjoyed spending time with longtime friend Grace, talking on the phone, going to breakfast then to the Galleria for a movie, and their special 60 ^th birthday celebration of seeing the Broadway show "Jersey Boys" in NYC. He had high praise for his home aides Helena and Jacqueline and for their loving care and their friendship.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8 from 4-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9 from the funeral home at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook. Memorial donations in Howard's memory may be made to Hospice.
