Helen Parrott Saltford, 98, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush,NY. Born in Poughkeepsie on February 11, 1909, she was the daughter of Dr. Fred J. and Mary L. DeForest Parrott. On September 28, 1929 in West Sand Lake,NY, Helen married George G. Saltford. Mr. Saltford predeceased her in 1954. Mrs. Saltford was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and New Paltz State Teachers College, where she obtained her Masters Degree in Education. She taught in Salt Point, Poughkeepsie, and Arlington Schools. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, the Antique Study Club, Dutchess County Retired Teachers Association, and the Tri-Phi of Trinity Church. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Barbara and Milton Bloomer of Daytona Beach Shores, FL.; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Dr. Fred Jay Parrott. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday 2 pm at Parmele Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Inurnment will take place in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
