Harriette Ethel Jones Holsipple, 98, of Poughkeepsie, NY
went home to be with Jesus on January 30, 2021.
She had been a resident of The Pines of Poughkeepsie, NY for the last few years.
Born and raised in Ashley, Pennsylvania, Harriette was the youngest daughter of Pastor Byron D Jones and Rebecca Watson McGee Jones.
Her siblings: Byron Jr, who passed away at the age of two, Emily, Edwin, Dale, George, and Carol, who passed away at the age of six, have all predeceased her.
She graduated from Ashley High School in 1940 and then went on to attend Eastern Bible Institute, (now known as Valley Forge Christian College) in Phoenixville, PA
in 1949,
graduating class of 1952.
While in college she was a piano accompanist to many choral groups as well as a part of a trio and did extensive traveling and ministry.
Harriette moved to the Poughkeepsie, NY area from Pennsylvannia and began working for IBM in December 1955.
She had a long career with IBM as a Programming Liaison and was known as the "APAR Mother" in her department.
She married Paul Joe Holsipple December 14, 1956 and celebrated 57 years together before his death in August 2014.
She is survived by three stepdaughters;
Mrs Mitchell (Ruth) Prebel of Ocala, FL, Mrs Debrah Watson of Thomaston, ME and Mrs Elizabeth McDougall of Thomaston, ME as well as 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition, she has many surviving nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
An exceptional seamstress, she also did flawless cross-stitch, quilting, knitting and crocheting, including many Christmas stockings, scarves and sweaters. Harriette always had a project going.
Playing the piano was just part of who Harriette was.
She was a member of Faith Assembly of God, Poughkeepsie, NY for many years and then became a member of New Beginnings Assembly of God, Red Hook, NY.
Most Sundays you would find her at the piano or organ using her gift during the service, or playing for a wedding or funeral held at the church.
She was always at the ready to host a visiting Pastor or family that was from out of town in their home and was a gracious hostess to many.
Harriette was a Missionettes leader, involved in Womens Ministries and Missions.
Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2021 at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY from 11:00am to 1:00pm with burial following at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
