Obituary

Harold A. Crawford, 80, a longtime resident of Fishkill, NY entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, November 21, 2016 at home. Harold was the son of Evelyn and Harold Crawford of Bronx, NY. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and attended NYU. He served honorably in the US. Army National Guard's 991 st Transportation Company at Fort Dix, NJ.  Harold was the branch manager of County Trust Bank in Peekskill, and of Banker's Trust Bank in Pleasant Valley. He later began a career in sales, selling building materials to wholesalers in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster Counties. Harold enjoyed being with people, and was a member of the Exchange Club in Peekskill, the Lions Club in Pleasant Valley, the Rotary Club of Millbrook and the Pleasant Valley Chamber of Commerce. He was also a former member of the Wappingers Elks Club

Harold loved working with wood and was very proud of the workshop he had set up in the basement. He was an avid bowler and golfer, once bowling a 300 game and getting a hole- in- one on the links. He had a passion for the printed word and often got others "hooked" on authors he had discovered. Harold was a member of the Fishkill Reformed Church and served as Vice President of the Consistory, a commitment he took very seriously.

He is survived by June, his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, his four beloved children-two daughters Ann Marie of Arizona and Mary Ann of Mahopac, his twin sons  Harold of Seaford, NY and Howard of West Chester, PA, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves behind his sister Evelyn Paul of Warwick, Rhode Island and many dear friends.

Calling hours will be held in the sanctuary of the Fishkill Reformed Church, 1153 Main Street, Fishkill, on Wednesday, November 30, from 11 AM till 1 PM. A memorial service will be held there at 1 PM, followed by a commitment ceremony in the Memorial Garden at the church and a reception in the church fellowship hall adjacent.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA or the Fishkill Reformed Church.
